Where the numbers come from
- In the EU and the euro area: Eurostat's harmonised index of consumer prices, all items, up to 2024.
- Everywhere else: the World Bank's consumer price inflation, up to 2025.
- Each year is the average of its twelve months. "Today" is the last full year of each place's data. The euro area is counted as it was each year.
- Each amount is in the place's currency today. Inflation changes what it buys, not the currency.
- A country starts in the first full year of its currency today, as Unicode CLDR dates it. Countries now in the euro keep their earlier years, in euros at the fixed conversion rate.
- Countries with no data, or none since 2023, are not listed: Venezuela or Cuba, for instance.
- Both are free to reuse with credit: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Taken on 9 Oct 2026 (Eurostat) and 9 Oct 2026 (World Bank).
